About Me

My Story

I am a proud "boomerang" Mainer, having returned to my hometown of Scarborough with my husband and our three children. I earned a dual degree in Psychology and Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire, followed by a Master Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of New Hampshire in 2012. My career began at Seacoast Mental Health Center in Portsmouth, NH, where I served as an outreach therapist for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. In 2014, I launched my private practice.

I care deeply about supporting people through challenging relationship issues and have great trust in the power of human connection. My passion for this work stems from witnessing the profound transformation that occurs when individuals and couples feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can openly share their thoughts and emotions without fear of criticism. By fostering genuine connection, I believe we can work together to navigate even the most difficult moments.

I bring my true self—including my quirks—to every session, fully committed to being present with my clients as we experience pain, fear, discomfort, laughter, heartbreak, and joy together. My approach is authentic and compassionate, allowing for vulnerability and realness in our interactions. I understand that healing and growth are not always linear processes; there will be ups and downs, and I am here to walk alongside my clients every step of the way. Whether we are working through tears or sharing a lighthearted moment, I am devoted to building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and mutual respect.

As a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I have undergone extensive training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) with a four-day externship and advanced training in Core Skills 1-4 through the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), as well as supplementary supervision. This rigorous education has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to effectively guide couples in understanding and changing the negative patterns that keep them feeling stuck. My training allows me to facilitate sessions that help partners reconnect emotionally, rebuild trust, and foster a sense of safety within their relationship.

In addition to my formal training, I regularly participate in ongoing professional development and supervision to stay current with the latest research and techniques in couples therapy. This commitment ensures that I am continually growing as a therapist and able to provide the highest quality care to those I serve. I am dedicated to helping my clients not only resolve their immediate concerns but also build lasting, meaningful bonds that can withstand future challenges.
